Founder & Pastor

Supt. E.R. Patterson, Jr.

Throughout Pastor Patterson’s childhood, he remained studious and later pursued his B.S. Degree in Industrial Technology/Economics from Alabama A&M University.  Shortly before graduation, early one Sunday morning, he was compelled to attend morning worship.  There he heard the words of an evangelist preaching “It’s Christ or Christine” and found himself accepting Christ as his personal Savior.

In 1975 he moved to Peoria, IL and became a member of Faith Tabernacle Church Of God In Christ, where the Founder and Pastor was the late Elder Felton Beck Sr.  He later met the love of his life, Leatrice James Walker.  They married the following year and three children were born to this union Embra III (Stacie), Andrea (J.J. Bell), and Adrian.

Pastor Patterson was called to the ministry in 1976.  He was ordained an Elder in the Church of God in Christ in 1984.  He became President of his Local and District Youth Department under the leadership of Pastor Felton Beck Sr.  In 1986 he was elevated to Director of Public Relations for Southern Illinois Jurisdiction State Youth Department, and two years later, he became the State Director of Public Relations for Southern Illinois Jurisdiction.

Pastor Patterson served faithfully at Faith Tabernacle C.O.G.I.C. for 22 years.  God spoke to him through a vision, and on October 1, 1997, he founded Kingdom Temple Church Of God In Christ.  He is currently Jurisdictional Secretary and First Administrative Assistant for Southern Illinois Jurisdiction. He holds a Masters Degree in Liberal Studies from Bradley University.  He has been employed at the Central Illinois Light Company for 28 years, and now serves as Supervisor for the Gas Customer Service group.  He is also the proud grandfather of five beautiful grandchildren: Chauncey, Chynna, Embra IV, Chloe, & Ethan.
